Low Tide Walk

June 25, 2025 | 10:30am – 12:30pm

Agate Passage Preserve

Join the Land Trust for a guided exploration of the rich intertidal world at Agate Passage Preserve during one of the lowest tides of the year! Led by expert beach naturalist & our Community Education Coordinator, Megan Rohrssen, this Low Tide Walk will be fun for all ages to connect with nature as we learn about this extraordinary aquatic ecosystem. With an extremely low tide (-4 ft), we’ll get a rare glimpse at the diversity of marine life, from eelgrass to nudibranchs to moon snails.

Things to Know
  • This event is FREE, no registration is required.
  • All ages are welcome — kids are great explorers!
  • Wear rubber boots or sturdy shoes that can get wet — you’ll be walking on slippery rocks & in shallow water.
  • Parking: There is limited parking at the Preserve, so we encourage you to park at Centennial Rotary Park (15250 Alama Place NE). Shuttle service will be provided looping from the park to the trailhead between 10 AM – 1 PM, courtesy of Lux Ride Pro. Alternatively, it is a 0.5 mi walk north from Centennial Rotary Park to the trailhead — there is a small trail that parallels the highway, ending at Ada’s Will Ln. The entrance to the Preserve is approximately 400 feet up Surf Scooter Ln, north of the bus shelter.
  • Please, no dogs due to the fragility of this intertidal environment.
  • Sun protection is encouraged, but avoid excess sunscreen/lotion on your hands as these can be harmful for sea life.
  • We are responsible beach stewards — please be respectful to the sensitive sea creatures by practicing proper intertidal etiquette.
