Welcoming the Dark: Star Party & Night Walks

 Saturday, September 19 • Hilltop • 7 pm – 11 pm

Discover the wonders that come alive after dark! Join us for an evening of nighttime exploration in partnership with the Battle Point Astronomical Association on International Observe the Moon Night. Peer through telescopes to explore the night sky, then venture into the forest trails on a guided night walk to listen for nocturnal wildlife and experience the woods in a new way.

Guided Night Walks
Choose between a Dusk Walk (7–8pm) or Night Walk (8:30–9:30pm). Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Star Party
Throughout the evening, the Battle Point Astronomical Association will host a star party with telescopes and opportunities to explore the night sky. Star party attendance is open to everyone, whether or not you join a guided walk, come-and-go from 8-11pm. Registration is limited.

You can register for a guided walk, the star party, or both! Registration is limited.

Befriending the Night

An invitation to circle up outdoors at dusk to engage in rich conversation about the gifts of the dark. All ages welcome. BPAA artist-in-residence, Deborah J Milton, PhD, will inspire free-ranging dialogue by sharing poems and anecdotes based on her personal experience with the dark. She took her first night walk without a flashlight 43 years ago. That experience sparked years and years of changing her worldview so that now she embodies aliveness, embraces fear, and lives with a deep-time perspective. Please join us for an en-light-ening experience during the star party (no registration required).
