Seeking Volunteers for Amphibian Monitoring 2026

We’re hopping into another year of amphibian surveys! In partnership with Bloedel Reserve, IslandWood, and Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District, we’re looking for volunteers to help survey ponds & wetlands on Bainbridge Island for frogs & salamanders. This hands-on community science opportunity plays an important role in understanding habitat health, and offers the chance to experience local ecosystems in a new way!

As a volunteer, you will:
  • Identify, photograph, & collect data on various amphibian species (egg masses, tadpoles, & adults)
  • Gain experience recording data in iNaturalist
  • Support regional & global research on amphibian populations & ecosystem health
  • Make an impact on local conservation initiatives
  • Have fun & get outside!

Volunteers must commit to:

  • Completing a 3-5 hr self-paced virtual training through the Woodland Park Zoo
  • Attending the in-person field training at Bloedel Reserve: Friday, January 23 at 10am
  • Conducting one field visit & data entry every month from January – June 2026

To get involved, please email Megan Rohrssen, Community Education Coordinator, by December 15, 2025.Click to read more on last year’s Amphibian Monitoring season.
