Join the Bainbridge Island Land Trust’s team of passionate environmental stewards as a “Friend” of the Land Trust! These volunteer groups offer a unique opportunity for those eager to make a meaningful impact in their local community by supporting the Land Trust’s vital conservation efforts. Learn to perform hands-on stewardship work, such as invasive species removal, habitat restoration, plantings, trail maintenance, and beach cleanups.

Join Friends of Manzanita Ridge Preserve

What is Friends of Manzanita Ridge?

Friends of Manzanita Ridge is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting stewardship efforts at Manzanita Ridge Preserve. Through hands-on activities like invasive species removal, trail maintenance, plantings, and watering, this group plays a key role in maintaining the Preserve.

By joining, you will:

  • Meet new friends and neighbors
  • Strengthen community connections
  • Help the Land Trust preserve this beautiful natural space
  • Gain environmental education and outreach opportunities

 

Responsibilities

  • Complete in-person site visit
  • Meet every month at Manzanita Ridge Preserve to complete stewardship activities
  • Report progress back to Land Trust staff
  • Track volunteer hours
  • Coordinate volunteer work parties as needed

Join Friends of the Winslow Heron Rookery

What is Friends of the Winslow Heron Rookery?

Friends of the Winslow Heron Rookery is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting the restoration and long term care of the Winslow Heron Rookery. During the heron nesting season from February through August, members focus on community monitoring and observations to help protect this sensitive colony. When the herons fledge in late August, volunteers shift to hands on stewardship activities such as invasive species removal and underplanting to support a healthy forest habitat.
By joining, you will:
  • Meet new friends and neighbors
  • Strengthen community connections
  • Help the Land Trust steward an active heron rookery
  • Gain environmental education and outreach opportunities
Responsibilities:
  • Attending an in-person site visit
  • Participate in monthly stewardship activities from August through February
  • Collect observational data from February through August during the nesting season
  • Track and report volunteer hours
