17th Bainbridge Environmental Conference – Our Forests: Bainbridge Island the Climate Crisis

UPDATE:

Dear Friends,

Although we were very much looking forward to welcoming you to the Association of Bainbridge Communities Environmental Conference next weekend, out of an abundance of caution, we are canceling the event.

Recent King County recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 have suggested avoiding bringing large groups together. Your safety, and the safety of our staff and community at large, are of the utmost importance to us. While it saddens us to have to cancel a weekend of bringing people together over a topic of the utmost importance – something we are extremely passionate about doing – we know this is the right decision for all.

What’s next?

  • The ABC Environmental Conference Planning team is working with our speakers and session leaders to reschedule this conference for early next fall.

  • As soon as we land on a new date, we will reach out to inform you.

  • If you’re unable to make the new date, we can issue you a refund. Please email [email protected] if you would like a refund.

  • We’re disappointed not to be seeing you next weekend but hope to see you this fall.  We encourage you to instead spend next Sunday sharing a walk with friends and family through one of our Island’s magnificent forests.

As a bonus for registering for the conference, the Land Trust had originally offered a 2-hour field trip to the new Springbrook Creek Preserve for attendees. We are now opening this field trip up to anyone who wishes to attend, regardless of whether you signed up for the conference. The field trip will explore the forests, wetlands, and stream on the property, and discuss how these natural systems are designed to be naturally resilient during climate change conditions. To sign up for the field trip, click here.

Thank you,

Bainbridge Island Land Trust and the ABC Environmental Conference Planning Committee
